Welcome to 3rd grade! I'm looking forward to a productive and inspiring school year! It will be a great adventure as we get to know each other throughout our journey into 3rd grade. I look forward to getting to know my students and their families. Please refer to our class website on a regular basis as I will update it with all of the class happenings, assignments, post some examples of student work and add pictures of our activities.
Here's a bit about my educational background. I graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Early Childhood Education. In 1985 I began teaching kindergarten in Milford, NH. The following year, I purchased Great Beginning Kindergarten where I taught, and met many wonderful children and their families for nine years. I wanted to transition into public school, so I returned to get a second bachelor's degree, this time from Keene State College in Elementary Education. I began teaching as a long term substitute in fifth grade at the Milford Middle School, then worked as an associate for the remainder of the school year. The following year, I was hired as a fourth grade teacher in the Milford Elementary School where I have taught either third or fourth grade ever since. I have been teaching in Milford Elementary School since 1994. I attended Lesley University to get my masters in Literacy. I have a love of learning and I look forward to continuing my education throughout my teaching career. I love to be outside and enjoy nature. I find so much beauty and joy from the outdoors. New Hampshire is a great place to be to enjoy all nature has to offer! I also like gardening, kayaking, reading, going to the beach and spending time with my family and friends. In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust and respect. I work hard to build a sense of community among my students and I emphasize the idea of teamwork. I value cooperation and collaboration both in my classroom and with parents and my fellow teachers. I believe in a partnership between parents and school for the best success for your child.
